2024/2025 NPFL Season: Lobi Stars FC move home matches away from Lafia Township Stadium

Posted : 27 January 2025

Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi is now set to abandon the use of Lafia Township Stadium as their home ground and move to the Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.

Recall that the traditional home ground of the Makurdi-based team, Aper Aku Stadium, has been closed for use for about two years due to reconstruction, which has forced the team to seek a temporary home ground for its Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) home games.

However, the Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Dr. Philip Nongu, led an inspection of the Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi to confirm the previous assessment carried out by the Nigeria Football Federation and to make logistical arrangements, as the facility will serve as the club’s temporary home ground.

Nongu was joined on the visit by notable stakeholders, including Patrick Pascal, Chairman of the Bauchi State Football Association.

Others included Khalid Abubakar, Bauchi State FA Coordinator; Bashir Idris, Bauchi FA Secretary; Ashiru Lame, the Stadium Manager; Coach Ibrahim Shehu; and the club’s Chief Security Officer, Usman Abdullahi, among others.

The Nigeria Football Federation had earlier inspected and approved the Tafawa Balewa Stadium for use by Lobi Stars, pending the completion of ongoing renovations at their home ground.

Nongu’s inspection aimed to ensure that all arrangements meet the club’s high standards as they prepare to continue their campaign in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

This visit underscores Lobi Stars' commitment to maintaining optimal conditions for their players and fans while ensuring compliance with the league’s requirements.
