The reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Rangers International FC, returned to winning ways on Thursday with a 1-0 victory at home against Bayelsa United.
The Flying Antelopes lost to current league leaders and title challengers Remo Stars on Sunday and needed an immediate response.
Rangers created several chances in the first half, but their finishing in the opposition’s box let them down.
However, Isaac Saviour’s long-range effort in the 75th minute was all Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side needed to secure maximum points at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The victory moves Rangers to seventh in the standings with seven points from four league games.
Bayelsa United are 17th with just two points from four games.
Up next for Enugu Rangers, who are eight-time NPFL champions, is another home game against their oriental rivals, Abia Warriors, on Sunday.
