Ahead of the resumption of the second half of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Heartland International FC Technical Adviser, Emmanuel Amuneke, has predicted a better performance from his underachieving team.
The soft-spoken coach then saluted his youthful side, expressing optimism that they will improve in the second half of the season.
The Naze Millionaires struggled at the start of the campaign but have managed to secure a number of impressive results.
The former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions finished the first half of the season in 14th position with 22 points.
“I’m proud of the young squad we fielded in the first half of the season,” Amuneke told Heartland’s media.
“As you all know, I am a product of the same system. After I left secondary school, I was given an opportunity at Julius Berger, which has made me who I am today. I think in Nigerian culture, we want to be big immediately and have good results.”
“We at Heartland are focused on developing our players to grow. For instance, the former African Player of the Year was a product of myself and Emeka Amadi in the U-17 team. Within five years, he became one of the best players.”
“I think it is important that we create a space where we continue to encourage our young players because it’s through these channels that they will mature and become much better players.”
