2024/2025 NPFL Match Day: Zubair promises good run against Plateau United

The head coach of El-Kanemi Warriors, Aliyu Zubairu, says he is confident that the Maiduguri side can win all their home matches in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Following a thrilling 4-3 win at Nasarawa United last Saturday, the Maiduguri side has now picked up four points in two matches this season, and both were on the road.

Ahead of what will be their first home match of the season against Plateau United on matchday 4, the coach believes the Maiduguri side will be inspired by their away form as well.

“There’s no hiding place for any opponent that comes to Maiduguri; that’s just it,” Zubairu said.

“Nobody can hide anywhere; we are not going to negotiate away three points at home.

“I don’t normally predict where the team will be at the end of the season; what I know is that we will continue to work hard. We are not under any pressure; what is important is for us to take every match seriously.”

In another related development, El-Kanemi Warriors called on their supporters to rally behind the team against the visiting Plateau United.

The club’s secretary, Alhaji Bura Mustapha, made the appeal during a meeting with the club’s supporters in Maiduguri, urging them to pray for the team’s success.

Mustapha also emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, encouraging fans to accept match results with calmness and grace, regardless of the outcome.

“We had an away draw in Enugu and a win in Lafia with no issues. We appeal to our fans to always accept the results of matches in good faith and with calmness, due to our genuine love and efforts to develop El-Kanemi Warriors and the game,” he stated.

El-Kanemi Warriors are aiming for a strong performance as they welcome Plateau United in this key NPFL encounter.

They impressed in their first game of the season with a goalless draw against defending champions Rangers, and they also beat Nasarawa United 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller in their last league game.
