With a lineup that included Aina Oluwadamilare; Waliu Ojetoye, Harrison Uzondu, Chibuike Oheagbulam, Leonard Ngenge; Olatunji Abdulmalik, Tosin Oyedokun, Adelani Shola; Alade Solomon, Emmanuel Solomon, and Salau Yusuf, the Oga Boys had hoped for a good result.
The start of the game was end-to-end, as Shola Adelani missed a good chance to put the Oga Boys in the lead after five minutes, his effort going just wide.
In the next minute, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele was put through on goal at the other end, giving the home side the lead.
Ikorodu City put up a better fight after the goal, forcing Ani Ozoemena in goal for Enyimba into several saves as the hour mark approached. Tosin’s strike was repelled first, and then Emmanuel Solomon was denied from close range as the team headed into the break behind by a goal.
The second half began just as the first half ended, with Oga Boys' dominance providing captain Waliu Ojetoye a chance to find Tosin at the edge of the box, but his strike went inches over the goal.
Nurudeen then made a couple of substitutions to try to secure a point in the game.
Ajeyigbe Toyeeb, Moses Shodeinde, and Rivio Ayemwenre replaced Salau Yusuf, Tosin Oyedokun, and Emmanuel Solomon.
Chineme Chinonso came on to replace Alade Solomon, and the final change saw Freedom Marvelous come in for Shola Adelani.
Ikorodu City found an equalizer in the final minute of regulation time. One substitute combined with another; Chineme Chinonso sent a great cross into the box, and Toyeeb Ajeyigbe arrived at the far post to tap it in for 1-1.
With seven minutes of added time, Enyimba went back in front, courtesy of a header from Moses Adikwu, as the Lagos Boys fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Up next, Ikorodu City FC will welcome league leaders Rivers United at home on Match Day 10 of the NPFL 2024/2025 season and hope to return to winning ways.
