The Solid Miners fell to a 1-0 defeat against hosts Sunshine Stars of Akure in Sunday's 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match-day 8 fixture.
The solitary goal came in the 18th minute, courtesy of Opeoluwa Olufemi's easy tap-in after a deflection left goalkeeper Mohammed Galadima helpless.
Despite dominating possession and creating a flurry of scoring opportunities, Nasarawa United could not find the equalizer at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, the temporary home ground of the Owena Whales, as Sunshine Stars are nicknamed.
United drops to 13th position from eight games with 9 points, while Sunshine Stars move up to 4th position with 13 points.
The Solid Miners will next host fellow northern team, Ahmed Musa's Kano Pillars, on Match-day 9 on Sunday, 27th October, 2024, at the Lafia City Stadium at 4 pm.
For Nasarawa United FC coach Kabir Dogo, the result was not good enough for the team.
"It's not a good result for us, however, I am proud of the team's effort.
"I congratulate Sunshine Stars on the win, even though it was very tight.
"We will regroup and focus on our next game at home against Kano Pillars next Sunday, where I believe we will bounce back stronger.
"Our focus remains on achieving our season's goals."
