Ahead of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 7 against Rivers United FC, Shooting Stars head coach Gbenga Ogunbote has promised to address the team’s goal-scoring problem.
The Oluyole Warriors were held to a 0-0 draw by Enyimba at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Sunday.
The Ibadan club has only scored three goals in six league matches this season.
Ogunbote lamented his players' inability to convert chances created against the People’s Elephants.
“This is a big challenge for us. Our inability to take risks has contributed to this. If we had taken enough risks in this game, we could have gotten something, but it’s an ongoing issue,” he told the club’s media.
“We will continue to train them to help them understand our philosophy.”
Shooting Stars will play away to Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Thursday.
However, Rivers United FC, currently in second position on the NPFL log, will be determined to extend their winning streak.
The Pride of Rivers remains the only team that has yet to taste defeat in the six previous league matches.
