Heading into Matchday 7, Remo Stars picked up maximum points in five of their six encounters, only losing on the road to Kwara United on Match Day 5, while securing consecutive wins away.
The Peace Boys, on the other hand, appeared to have only misstepped on Match Days 3 and 6, with losses against Niger Tornadoes and Bayelsa United respectively, but they have accumulated a decent point haul both at home and on the road.
Critics have been having a field day dissecting the matches and lost opportunities, as it is taking a little time for Mbwas Mangut to successfully replace the departed players from the team. However, it appears they have started to gel afterward.
The current Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, appeared confident in a side that has earned maximum points from all but one match since Match Day 1.
The Peace Boys started NPFL Match Day 7 on the front foot, with Franklin Ebuka grabbing a brace in the 3rd and 17th minutes, plus a 64th-minute strike by Abubakar Adamu Sadiq.
This was followed by a flurry of misses across the board until the 83rd minute when Remo Stars' Jabar Malik converted late as a reward for his relentless effort.
The fixture produced a highly competitive scenario, with Vincent Temitope's sublime touches and Adewale Adeyinka's impeccable saves, alongside Daniel Itodo's goal-line save and assists, and Mafeng Badung's delectable influence in midfield, among other top performances.
Following the victory, the Peace Boys moved into 4th place in the current standings, with six home wins, one win on the road, and three draws after 10 Match Day 7 fixtures across the country. They have a trip to Umuahia up ahead against Abia Warriors on Match Day 8.
Meanwhile, the newly elected chairmen of Jos North and South, respectively, Barrister JK Chris and Silas Patrick Dung, showed up in solidarity with the Peace Boys.
