2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 7: Nasarawa United FC spanks Abia Warriors in Lafia

Three second-half goals from Nasarawa United striker Anas Yusuf condemned Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia to a 3-0 defeat in Matchday 7 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League encounter played at Lafia City Stadium.


This is the Warriors' heaviest defeat so far in the ongoing football league season.


The first half ended goalless, and upon resumption of the second half, the hosts made their intentions clear with constant pressure on the visitors' defense.


The pressure paid off in the 56th minute when Yusuf headed a delightful cross into the net for the opener.


The spectators were still in a jubilant mood when Yusuf doubled the lead for the hosts just a minute after his first goal, as he found time and space to shoot from 10 yards.


A wholesale substitution from the Warriors' bench did little to stop the effervescent Yusuf from completing his hat trick when he scored a screamer for his second hat trick of the season in the 70th minute.


Up next for Umu Chineke is a home tie against Plateau United in Umuahia on the 20th of October 2024.
