Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia arrived in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday for their Matchday 7 encounter of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season against Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia.
The Umu Chineke, having defeated Kwara United by a lone goal last Sunday, have now shifted their focus to Wednesday's showdown with the Solid Miners.
The captain of Abia Warriors, Augustine Njoku, stated that the team was in Lafia to win and not for a mere outing.
"The spirit in the camp is high; I believe we didn’t come here for a mere outing or just to play. We are here for the maximum points," Njoku asserted.
The Warriors' skipper further stated, "I believe with everything that we have been through during the week and all that our coaches have taught us about the game of football, we’re ready."
"I believe if we put all of that into action on Wednesday, we’ll come off the field with the maximum points," he continued.
According to the former national U-20 defender, his optimism stems from the hard-fought victory over Kwara United on Matchday 6 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, which was played at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
"Victory, they say, begets victory, and with the win last Sunday at home, I believe we’re going to put everything together to keep the spirit high and go all out for the maximum points this Wednesday."
