2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 6: Niger Tornadoes seek home win against Lobi Stars

Posted : 12 October 2024

After a triumphant return home, Niger Tornadoes say they are determined to shed their winless home record this season.

The upcoming clash against Lobi Stars presents the perfect chance for Majin Mohammed's squad to reverse their fortunes.

Mercurial midfielder Papa Daniel described the North Central showdown against Lobi Stars, slated for Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna, as a must-win.

The former Adanaspor of Turkey star, Papa, said there is no hiding place for the visitors, as he and his teammates are fired up to halt the winless home streak starting this weekend.

"We want to give our fans something to cheer about; it's high time we break the jinx. We have had intensive training sessions geared toward getting a positive result for our teeming supporters."

The Ikon Allah Boys are winless at home in the current campaign after being held to draws by Nasarawa United and Bendel Insurance, respectively. Papa Daniel believes that with the high spirits in camp, his teammates are determined to secure a vital result on Sunday.

"We have held discussions as a team, both among ourselves and with the technical crew, on how important a win is for the team this weekend, and we have resolved to go all out for maximum points."

"We know how it feels for the fans to not have experienced a home victory in a long while, but they should not fret. All we expect is their maximum support from the beginning of the match until the end."

Niger Tornadoes have picked up 8 points from 5 matches after recording two away wins and one defeat, plus two home draws.

In this fixture, the Ikon Allah Boys recorded a resounding 3-2 home victory in Kaduna last season in dramatic fashion, while the visitors edged it in the reverse fixture, courtesy of Suur Kumaga's solitary goal for the hosts in Lafia.

Majin Mohammed's side will face Lobi Stars under their new head coach, Daniel Amokachi, who joined the team last week after the sacking of former coach Eugene Agagbe.
