Shola Abdulraheem's second-half goal gave Kwara United their first win of the campaign.

The 1-0 victory ended the unbeaten run of Remo Stars in Match Day Five of the Nigeria Premier Football League, played at Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.

Coach Tunde Sanni made a few changes to his side from their last home match against Ikorodu City, and the team showed glimpses of vision and purpose.

The encounter saw the home side bring energy as they dictated the game to the visitors.

The Ikenne-based side delivered an insipid display in the first half, failing to create any chances.

Kwara United played with bravery, purpose, and direction, spreading the ball around to gain momentum as they searched for an opener in the first half.

Remo Stars faced indiscipline, receiving three yellow cards for bookable offenses.

The trio of Victor Adeoye, Akanni Akeem, and Shola Abdulraheem in midfield, along with the duo of Alalade and Aimufa upfront, showed more purpose for the home side, tormenting the defense of Remo Stars on several occasions, but the match ended 0-0 in the first half.

After the restart, Kwara United began where they left off, pressing for an opener.

Their hard work, resilience, and purpose paid off when Shola Abdulraheem broke the deadlock with a solo effort, putting the ball into the bottom left corner of the net in the 56th minute.

The stadium erupted as the fans celebrated wildly.

However, before the goal, Remo Stars were reduced to ten men when former Kwara United player Sani Faisal was sent off for a second bookable offense.

Immediately after conceding the goal, Daniel Ogunmodede made three substitutions, which showed a sign of purpose as they pressed for an equalizer.

Tension filled the stadium when Kwara United defender Olaniyi Saheed went down on the field, suffering from a concussion after being struck in the face by a well-placed free kick, but he was later resuscitated by the medical team's intervention.

As the game resumed, Kwara United stood firm, defending their lead resolutely with heart and soul to secure their first victory of the campaign.

Chief Coach of Kwara United, Ashifat Suleiman, praised the boys for their determination and resilience in achieving this important victory.

Remo Stars' Coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, expressed his disappointment over his team's performance.

Kwara United will travel to face Abia Warriors for the Match Day Six encounter of the NPFL, slated for next Sunday.
