2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 5: Ahmed Musa in Kano Pillars' Jersey returns to league with a bang

Posted : 07 October 2024

The Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has started his third stint in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a bang as he powered his newly-joined team, Kano Pillars, to a 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars of Akure.

The 2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 5 played at the Mohammad Dikko Stadium, Katsina, had Musa score in the 4th minute. Musa, Nigeria's most capped international, is also a record-highest goal scorer when he was with the Sai Masu Gida.

The 31-year-old Super Eagles' captain fired his brace in either side of the half to power Kano Pillars to a 2-0 win over visiting Sunshine Stars. His first goal came in the 4th minute when he latched onto a pass from Rabiu Ali and slotted the ball past the Sunshine Stars goalkeeper.

Musa doubled Kano Pillars' lead in the 54th minute when he converted a penalty after he was fouled in the box. Sunshine Stars pulled one goal back in the 67th minute through a header from Adekunle Olalekan, but they were unable to find an equalizer.

Musa's performance was impressive, and he showed that he is still a class act. He was involved in most of Kano Pillars' attacks and was a constant threat to the Sunshine Stars defense.

Musa's return to Kano Pillars is a huge boost for the club. He is a proven goalscorer and a leader on the pitch. His presence will help Kano Pillars to challenge for the NPFL title this season.

Musa's brace against Sunshine Stars was his first goals for Kano Pillars since his return to the club. He is expected to continue to score goals and help Kano Pillars to achieve success in the NPFL.
