2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 33: Remo Stars hopes to seal league title against wounded Katsina United

The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is set to produce new winners as league leaders Remo Stars welcome Katsina United to Ikenne on Sunday, aiming to tighten their grip on the top spot.


Playing in Ikenne against a wounded Changi Boys side, who were decimated by Ikorodu City FC in their penultimate midweek rescheduled Match Day 30 fixture, should not be a difficult task for the Sky Blue Stars, who are avidly chasing their first-ever silverware in the elite league.


The Sky Blue Stars, however, need to be at their best and avoid a repeat of their last league mistake when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Lobi Stars, a team rooted at the bottom of the NPFL after fulfilling their outstanding fixture. That result opened up a six-point lead over second-placed Rivers United.


Katsina United will face a tough challenge in Ikenne, especially after their humiliating 6-0 defeat to Ikorodu City in a rescheduled midweek match.


Their current form raises concerns, and with relegation looming, the visitors must produce their best performance of the season to leave Ikenne with any points.


Given Remo’s firepower and Katsina’s defensive frailties, it looks like another tough afternoon ahead for the visitors.
