It was another impressive outing for Kayode Oke Solomon as Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin defeated Kwara United 1-0 on Sunday, April 13, in Match Day 33 of the Nigeria Premier Football League in Ilorin.
Insurance FC had previously thrashed Kwara United 3-0 in their first-round meeting in Benin.
The energetic striker scored the only goal of the match in the 33rd minute to lift his side above the Harmony Boys before their home crowd.
Recall that on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa State, Kayode scored his first career hat-trick to help Bendel Insurance triumph 3-0 over Adamawa United in the Round of 32 match of the 2025 President Federation Cup, advancing to the Round of 16.
The Benin Arsenals are now set to face archrivals Rangers International in the Round of 16, scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Lagos.
Bendel Insurance FC had a tough match with Rangers International in Match Day 32 in Benin, where they shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
The 1-0 away win has come as a relief and has pushed Bendel Insurance up in the league table. They now occupy 5th position with 49 points and have something to fight for as the league season winds down.
Bendel Insurance FC will host Nasarawa United in Match Day 34 on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
In a post-match interview, Coach Greg Ikhenoba praised Kayode Oke and the team's performance. He commended his players for their resilience and strong character.
"Congratulations to the boys and the rest of us on the hard-earned victory, particularly Kayode Oke.
"I am happy we preserved what we had from the first half, and we ran away with it. It was the best way to respond to the home draw with Rangers last week.
"This is just the beginning of success for Kayode. I want him to be prolific, and he will get there," Ikhenoba said.
