Heartland FC has taken a significant step in the fight against relegation from the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a 2-0 victory over Kano Pillars at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Saturday.
Samuel Agu was the hero for the home side, scoring both goals for Emmanuel Amuneke’s men.
Agu broke the deadlock six minutes before halftime and later sealed the win with a well-taken free kick 13 minutes before full-time.
The win lifts Heartland to 16th place on the league table, now with 38 points from 32 matches.
Kano Pillars, meanwhile, remain in eighth position with 44 points from the same number of games.
