2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 31: Shooting Stars SC coach, Ogunbote, promises better days ahead

Having secured a hard-fought victory over Niger Tornadoes to end their six-game winless run, the Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan gaffer has promised a better team ahead of the classic match against El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

It will be a sharp contrast between both teams as they face each other in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 31 fixtures. The traveling Oluyole Warriors will be basking in the euphoria of ending their winless run after defeating Niger Tornadoes 3-1 in Ibadan. On the contrary, El-Kanemi Warriors are still nursing their Matchday 30 humiliation, suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of fellow northern club, Katsina United FC.

However, ahead of the next match, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, believes that the team's rough moments are over.

Ogunbote admitted that the win has brought relief to him and his players, hoping to build on this momentum in the remaining eight matches.

"I think it is a big relief for me and the boys. Honestly, you can see that we have a team that can withstand any opponent.

"But sometimes, when you have rough moments, there is nothing you can do. But thank God we are back to winning ways, and I hope we maintain the momentum," stated the gaffer.

On the team's chances of achieving their set target—securing a continental ticket—Oracle, as the sweat merchant is fondly called, remained optimistic.

"We still have eight games to determine that, and we will continue to do our best. Like I keep saying, as far as I am concerned, until the end of the season, nobody knows what will happen. So let's see what we can get out of the eight games left."

For El-Kanemi Warriors, the match against Shooting Stars should serve as a chance for redemption.
