2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 29: Unstable Niger Tornadoes welcome Katsina United to Lafia City Stadium

There has not been a more unstable club than Niger Tornadoes in the ongoing 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, as the team has left fans guessing when their next win will come.


The Ikon Allah Boys have posted decent results away from home, which would have been enough to compete for the league title had they won all their home games. However, that has not been the case.


The Ikon Allah Boys continue to struggle with home games despite securing wins and points away from home.


Yet another setback, which may eventually turn out to be a blessing in disguise, came when the NPFL management decided to ban Bako Kotangora Stadium due to its poor pitch. As a result, Niger Tornadoes had to relocate to the nearby Lafia Township Stadium, previously used by Lobi Stars for their home games.


Due to this development, the Ikon Allah Boys will have to play their home matches a day earlier if the original tenants, Nasarawa United, are scheduled to play on the same ground.


As a result, the Ikon Allah Boys will face Katsina United FC on Friday in the 2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 29 fixtures.


After suffering a 1-0 loss to Enyimba in their first game at their newly adopted home ground in Lafia, Niger Tornadoes will be determined to make amends when they host Katsina United.


Katsina United, on the other hand, will be full of confidence following their victory over Shooting Stars as they head into this clash.


However, the Minna-based club will be eager to secure their first win on the Lafia turf.


Both teams are separated by just one point on the table, with Niger Tornadoes in 12th place (37 points) and Katsina United in 13th (36 points), making this a closely contested battle.

Since 2022, Niger Tornadoes and Katsina United have faced each other in four competitive matches. Niger Tornadoes have yet to secure a win, with two matches ending in draws.
