2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 28: Amuneke falters as Heartland FC falls back to drop zone

It was a disappointing event for Heartland International FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri as they shared points, which they should have maximized, with visiting Bayelsa United on Sunday.


The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 28, played at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, saw the Naze Millionaires battle to a 1-1 draw against Bayelsa United, a result that has now pushed them further into the relegation zone.


The visitors, Prosperity Boys, took the lead in the 54th minute through Issa Yusuf, but Heartland responded quickly, with Suraju Lawal equalizing just six minutes later.


Despite spirited efforts from both sides in the closing stages, neither team could find a winner, leaving both teams frustrated and still hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.


The draw leaves Heartland and Bayelsa United tied on 34 points, just two above the drop zone.


Heartland International FC's coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, will hope that his players redeem themselves, as the team could face even more precarious times, especially with away matches, as the league nears its final phase.
