After his team's 0-2 loss to Ikorodu City FC in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 27, Heartland of Owerri coach Emmanuel Amuneke has promised to strengthen his squad tactically for better performance in their next match.
The former Super Eagles winger and 1994 African Footballer of the Year admitted that he was not happy with the result but acknowledged his players' strong fighting spirit during the fixture.
He said, “When the result doesn’t go your way, you have to go back and reflect. I didn’t enjoy the result, but I must recognize the boys' efforts. We played good football, but losing concentration at key moments affected us.
Such moments make a difference in football.”
Amuneke then shifted focus to the team’s next match, emphasizing the need to keep encouraging his players so they remain committed and put in more effort to achieve better results.
“Even if we had won this game, we would still have to go back, review our performance, and identify areas to strengthen,” the former Tanzania national team coach added.
