2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 27: El-Kanemi Warriors welcome sinking Lobi Stars to Maiduguri

It will be a fierce battle between El-Kanemi Warriors and the struggling Lobi Stars in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 27, set to be played in Maiduguri.

For Lobi Stars FC, this will be a make-or-break match due to their poor position in the 2024/2025 NPFL standings, sitting at the bottom of the table in 20th place.

The Alia Boys have been notable this season for frequently changing their coaching staff, which has had little to no positive impact on the team.

Additionally, Lobi Stars FC have been struggling with the challenge of playing their home matches far from their traditional home ground, Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi. They have had a difficult time first at Lafia Township Stadium and now at Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.

The Alia Boys have also changed their coach three times this season. They began with Eugene Agagbe, who was outstanding in the past two seasons with a 15-week unbeaten run but failed to replicate that success in the 2024/2025 season.

After Agagbe was sacked, the management appointed former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi, who also left after a series of poor results.

To assist Amokachi and ease his burden, Lobi Stars' management brought in Finnish tactician Mika Lönnström as the club's new head coach, but the team's performance did not improve.

Now, Lobi Stars are under a new manager, Mohammed Babaganaru, who is expected to guide the team to safety.

However, in their last five matches, Lobi Stars have yet to win, recording three draws and two losses.

For the hosts, the Desert Warriors, this will be another opportunity to strengthen their position on the NPFL table by securing maximum points.

Despite being reduced to ten men after receiving a red card in Match Day 26, El-Kanemi Warriors managed to secure a goalless draw against Emmanuel Amuneke-led Heartland International FC in Owerri, earning a crucial away point.
