Relegation-threatened Akwa United FC on Monday ground out a 1-0 win over the visiting Katsina United FC in the Monday night Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 27 fixture.
The Promise Keepers, playing at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, did well to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive, earning a much-needed win after five matches without a victory.
The win, however, takes a bit of pressure off coach Kennedy Boboye, who has been on the brink since assuming the reins of the Promise Keepers.
Uche Sabastine scored the only goal in the 20th minute, which proved enough for the relegation-threatened Akwa United to secure the maximum points.
Despite the win, Akwa United remains second from bottom with 27 points after 27 matches.
