2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 26: Niger Tornadoes compound Lobi Stars' woes

The adopted home ground of Lobi Stars FC, Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, has proved to be more problematic, as the team has yet to record a single win there.  


Just when many thought things would turn around for the better, Lobi Stars FC faced one of their worst nightmares as they were further battered by the visitors, Niger Tornadoes, who scored two unanswered goals against them in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 26.  


Before the defeat, the newly appointed interim coach of the team, Mohammed Ganaru, had warned his players against complacency, adding that the team still had a chance of survival despite their precarious position on the NPFL table.  


He also demanded that everyone step up their game.  


“And we must make our home ground a fortress so that we can start winning our home games and picking up points in away matches.”  


To further support the team, the management also announced John Gaadi as the Goalkeepers’ Trainer in order to strengthen the squad.  


However, it was the Ikon Allah Boys who secured the needed win, as Ghanaian import Daniel Akanbek scored for them in the 48th minute, while Victor Okoro added the second goal in the 66th minute of the second half.  


With this result, Lobi Stars remained rooted at the bottom of the league (20th position) with 23 points from 26 matches.
