The past few days have been intense for Ikorodu City FC, with back-to-back games, constant travel, and little rest from league and federation matches.
Through it all, the Oga Boys have remained resilient and hardworking, pushing forward with the fans' constant support.
Despite the challenges, Ikorodu City FC aimed to cap it off by securing a third consecutive Lagos State FA Cup title—a trophy the team had proudly won in the last two seasons.
However, it wasn’t to be this time, as they fell short in the final, losing on penalties to Inter Lagos on Sunday evening.
Putting that behind them, it’s just one of those things—a small setback in the grand scheme of things.
There’s a bigger goal ahead for Ikorodu City FC, and the setback from the 2025 State President Federation Cup should not distract the team from staying focused.
The Oga Boys will return to league action on Thursday, looking to secure crucial points at this pivotal stage of the season with a trip to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to face Bendel Insurance on Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 26.
Having had a rough start in their NPFL campaign, Matchday 6 marked Ikorodu City FC's first-ever meeting with Bendel Insurance. At that point, they had lost back-to-back home games and another away—it was their third home game of the season, and spirits weren’t exactly high.
Expectations were low, but that game changed everything. The Oga Boys took control, dominated, and sealed a massive 3-0 win at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena—their first-ever victory in the top flight.
It was huge, a weight off the team's shoulders. And looking at how far they have come since then, one thing is clear: Ikorodu City FC has gained the required ground and can only get better.
For Ikorodu City, influential team captain Waliu Ojetoye and Harrison Austin Uzondu face a late fitness test for the trip due to health reasons, while Emmanuel Solomon, Rivio Ayemwenre, and Salau Yusuf remain unavailable due to personal reasons. Everyone else is fit and ready.
Facing Bendel Insurance—a team going through their own rough patch—will not be easy, that’s for sure. The Benin Arsenals are always tough at home.
In their last five home games, they’ve won every single one, and in their last 10 matches overall, they’ve only lost once.
But even when the challenge seemed bigger, we’ve stepped up—more than once. We know it’s going to be tough, but we’re ready to take it on and give our all because we want to keep making you, the fans, proud.
