2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 26: Finidi in eyes of the storm as Katsina United comes knocking

Rivers United must brace for a tough battle as they prepare to face Katsina United FC on Match Day 26 of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Thursday.


The visitors, Changi Boys, are well known for causing upsets and securing crucial points away from home—something the Pride of Rivers must guard against.


Rivers United FC have recently been underperforming in the 2024/2025 NPFL season, allowing Shooting Stars SC to overtake them in second place under the leadership of Finidi George.


In their last five matches, the Pride of Rivers have managed only one victory, with two draws and two losses, including disappointing home results.


Finidi has also been under scrutiny for the team's poor performances and unfavorable results.


On Match Day 25, Rivers United could only secure a 1-1 draw against Akwa United FC, following a 1-0 loss to fierce rivals Enyimba International FC on Match Day 24.


Their only win in recent outings came on Match Day 23, when they defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.


For 13th-placed Katsina United FC, the situation is not much different, as the team has struggled despite a bright start to the 2024/2025 NPFL season.


However, the Changi Boys have enjoyed an impressive run in their last five matches, securing three wins, one draw, and one loss.
