Perhaps what will be more important to Abia Warriors FC as they travel to Kano is to perform another miracle—a repeat of what they achieved in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season when they became one of the few clubs to secure maximum points at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata.

Currently, Abia Warriors sit fourth on the NPFL table with 36 points, while their hosts, Sai Masu Gida, occupy ninth place with 32 points—just four points separating the two sides.

The match between both teams is expected to be intense and full of drama.

Kano Pillars are still chasing a top-three finish despite a nine-point gap and will rely on their passionate home crowd to overcome the Warriors, who are just two points behind third-placed Rivers United.

Sai Masu Gida have yet to reinstate their suspended coach, Usman Sheriff Abdallah, who was reportedly sidelined for three weeks due to the team’s poor performance and his conduct toward fans after their goalless draw against Bayelsa United on NPFL Matchday 22.

Kano Pillars have also struggled to find consistency in recent matches, securing only two wins in their last five games while suffering two losses and a draw.

This dip in form has raised concerns among the management and supporters, who expect a higher level of performance from the team.

Meanwhile, Abia Warriors midfielder Ojonugwa Adejoh shared his thoughts ahead of the clash against Kano Pillars.

As the team wrapped up preparations for their Matchday 24 fixture, Adejoh expressed confidence that the Warriors would leave "Groundnut City" unscathed.

"We approach every game differently. This one is just another match. So, as much as Kano Pillars have not defeated Abia Warriors for some time now, that doesn’t mean we will relax and not play our game.

"That’s why I say we will play our game because, for us to come out victorious or get something meaningful from this match, we have to do what we know how to do best.

"We'll just come out, play our game, and stick to the plan. That’s it.

"Our fans should keep praying and believing in Abia Warriors. This season, we are going to make them proud, and we will come out victorious at the end of the campaign."

Both teams have plenty at stake, making this a match to watch.
