2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 23: Under-pressure Akwa United FC welcomes Enyimba to Uyo

The return of veteran coach and former Nigerian League winner, Kennedy Boboye, to his former club has been met with mixed fortunes, as the team has failed to impress or deliver on his mandate.


The Promise Keepers, the 2019 league champions, are facing dark times, as all efforts to restore their status as a top club in the league have failed to materialize.


From last season to the present one, the Promise Keepers have alarmingly changed their coaching crew four times since Fatai Alao left the club.


However, the return of Boboye, a veteran in the sport, has raised hopes of a turnaround in fortune. Yet, Akwa United FC continues to struggle.


These are perilous times for the 2019 NPFL champions, as they sit at the bottom of the league table after the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 22 fixtures.


The pressure on Boboye appears overwhelming, as he is yet to secure a victory in three matches since taking charge.


Meanwhile, Enyimba, fresh from securing maximum points in their last away game, will fancy their chances of adding to Akwa United’s woes.


Boboye and his team know they must turn things around quickly if they are to stand any chance of survival or risk falling into the relegation zone.
