Ikorodu City FC will look to shrug off the disappointment of their last fixture and secure a much-needed win against the visiting Kwara United FC, a club from which they earned their first-ever point upon entering the elite league.
The Oga Boys suffered a 0-2 loss against defending champions Rangers International FC in Uyo during the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 22, having faced the same fate when the Flying Antelopes defeated them in Lagos.
For NPFL Match Day 23, the Oga Boys will face a familiar foe in Afonja Warriors, having previously earned a goalless draw at the Ilorin Township Stadium during Match Day 3.
Understanding the importance of securing all three points, Ikorodu City FC’s coach, Nurudeen Aweroro, emphasized the need for his team to stay focused.
“I will say that maximum points against Kwara United FC are a must—we need to stay focused.
“We have dropped some points, which is understandable, but our home matches are very important to us.
“If we manage to keep our heads up, we should be able to secure a respectable result,” he said.
Head to Head
This is only the second meeting between both teams, with the first encounter ending in a goalless draw.
