After his return to his former club in the mid-season transfer, Kennedy Boboye has yet to find success with the team, and their struggles continue.
Boboye faces a tough challenge following another frustrating 1-1 draw in Uyo against Lobi Stars in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 21.
Since his return to the club, Boboye has yet to secure a win, and his first two matches have done little to inspire confidence.
Akwa United sit 19th on the table with 20 points, just one point above bottom-placed Nasarawa United, as they prepare to face a wounded Abia Warriors side.
Imama Amapakabo’s team will be desperate to bounce back after letting a two-goal lead slip in their 3-2 defeat to Remo Stars.
They will be hoping to put that disappointment behind them with a victory.
However, one of the Abia United FC players, Afolabi, has declared war on the team’s next visitors, the Promise Keepers, stating that the team will ensure a 100 percent victory.
His assurance came after the disappointing loss to league leaders Remo Stars in Ikenne last Wednesday.
Abia Warriors defender Isaac Afolabi said they have put that result behind them and are now focused on the next challenge against neighbors Akwa United.
Despite taking a two-goal lead, Umu Chineke went on to capitulate to a 3-2 loss in the Matchday 21 fixture, a result Abia Warriors left-back Afolabi attributed to a loss of concentration.
The young left-back has now assured the Warriors’ teeming fans of a 100 percent performance against Akwa United on Sunday.
"We are more than 100 percent ready for the game because we lost our away game, so we are expected to give our 100 percent on that day because we need the maximum three points. It's for our good and also for the team in general."
The Warriors will be hoping to get the better of a side that forced them to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
