2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 22: Bayelsa United FC faces huge fight against wounded Kano Pillars

While many would have predicted a straight win for Ikorodu City FC or, at worst, a draw against the visiting Kano Pillars FC, no one could have anticipated the wide margin by which the Oga Boys would defeat them in the midweek clash of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 21. The match was played behind closed doors at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.  


It was an unforgettable day as Kano Pillars suffered a 1-4 defeat to a team they had previously beaten by three unanswered goals in Kano.  


Now, Sai Masu Gida has returned to the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, with their tails between their legs as a wounded team.  


However, it will now be the turn of a resurgent Bayelsa United to feel the sting of the Ahmed Musa-led strike force, which also features the legendary Rabiu Ali and the 17-year-old sensation Yusuf.  


For Bayelsa United, also known as the Prosperity Boys, they are en route to Kano for their NPFL Matchday 22 encounter against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday, February 2, 2025.  


The team traveled from Port Harcourt International Airport to Abuja, followed by a connecting flight to Kano.  


Among the squad is 19-year-old forward Rabiu Abdullahi, who joined Bayelsa United in August 2024.  


Since his arrival, Abdullahi has made a significant impact, scoring five goals in 11 appearances. His performance has been instrumental in Bayelsa United's campaign this season.  


The upcoming match against Kano Pillars is crucial for both teams as they vie for higher positions in the league standings.  


Fans are anticipating an exciting game, with particular attention on promising talents like Abdullahi.
