Ikorodu City FC of Lagos head coach, Nurudeen Aweroro, has downplayed his side’s 2-0 loss away to Rangers International of Enugu in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and declared that they will bounce back from the setback.
The Oga Boys’ gaffer pointed out that losing is part of football but admitted that the result could have been better had his players not lost concentration at crucial moments in both halves.
Nurudeen Aweroro recounted, “We lost concentration towards the end of the first half, and it happened again in the second half.
"I don’t know why it was like that. At the very least, if we can't score ahead of the opponent, we ought to defend our goal. We need to work more on our defensive line and see how we can adjust.”
He also dismissed suggestions that the result could demoralize the squad and lead to a series of poor results in their upcoming NPFL fixtures.
“It can’t affect the mood of our boys, and it can’t affect the team because it’s part of the game. We already knew this could be one of the matches we might lose this season.
"That’s what I believe about this result, but we’ll go back home and rectify our problems. That way, we’ll get it right and do better next time,” Aweroro enthused.
