Handsome Surveyor's first Rivers United goal, deep into stoppage time, was not enough to complete a comeback, as Rivers United FC settled for a draw against Plateau United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
The young and energetic forward, who came on as a 69th-minute substitute, converted a deflected Ndifreke Effiong effort at goal to cancel out Plateau United's 51st-minute goal by Vincent Temitope, following a goalless first half.
Despite speculative efforts to break Plateau United's defensive block, the Pride of Rivers couldn’t find a way through and had to settle for just a point from a hard-fought encounter that saw both teams' technical managers red-carded.
As a result, Rivers United FC finished the first half of the league season in second place, two points behind leaders Remo Stars.
The Finidi George-led team will return to the Jos Township Stadium to face Plateau United on Sunday, 19th January 2025, as the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier League enters its second round.
