2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 18: Akwa United FC set to unleash striker, Mare, on Heartland FC

It will be a battle of teams in relegation waters as Akwa United plays host to the visitors, Heartland FC, at the iconic Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Match Day 18.


The Promise Keepers have not been promising in the 2024/2025 NPFL season and are currently last on the table with 16 points from 17 games. They will be under immense pressure to win at home to close the gap on their visitors, Heartland, who are two points ahead.


The Naze Millionaires may plunge into the bottom four if they fail to make their opportunity count in the game in Uyo and during their visit to Lafia as guests of Lobi Stars next weekend.


However, ahead of the NPFL Match Day 18 clash against Heartland FC, the return of Abson Mare has boosted Akwa United's attacking options.


The lanky forward has been out of action in recent weeks due to injury and has missed several games.


The forward participated in team training on Thursday ahead of Sunday's clash, and he could return for the game.


His return will improve the team's attack as they continue to fight for survival in the league.
