However, it was the more spirited visitors, Remo Stars, who struck first in the 8th minute. Ibrahim Shuaib received a fast throw-in from Ibrahim Abubakar, took aim, and lobbed the ball into the back of the net.
Remo Stars continued their aggressive play, while Ikorodu City FC sorely missed the services of their influential captain and defender, Waliu Ojetoye.
The Sky Blue Stars threatened again in the 11th minute, but Ahmed Akinyele's shot inside the box was cleared off the line after a corner kick.
Things took a turn for the worse for the visitors when Ahmed Akinyele of the Sky Blue Stars was shown a red card for a second booking, reducing his team to 10 men.
It was a huge relief for the Oga Boys in the 90th minute when Chineme Chinonso headed the ball into the net to level the score from a cross by Salau Yusuf.
After 10 additional minutes, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Ikorodu City FC dropping to 6th position on the NPFL table.
The coach of Ikorodu City FC praised his players for their belief in winning the match, despite trailing by a goal at halftime.
"The team bonding is great, and we are not shocked by the performance of Remo Stars. It was expected as they are a top side. Our team needed to rally together to ensure we secured a draw against them," he said.
