2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 16: Sunshine Stars, Shooting Stars' derby gets new date, venue

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced changes to the 2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 16 fixture between Shooting Stars SC and Sunshine Stars of Akure.


According to the new arrangement, the Southwest derby, initially scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8, will now take place 24 hours earlier, on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Additionally, the match will be held at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, instead of Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, the adopted home of the Akure-based side.


The kickoff time of 4:00 pm, however, remains unchanged.


The new development was revealed in a letter issued by the league organizing body, dated Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, and signed by Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the NPFL.
