2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 16: Remo Stars target return to NPFL summit with El-Kanemi visit

The dethroned leaders of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Remo Stars, will on Sunday have a chance to return to the summit of the NPFL table if they beat the visiting El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.


Knowing that the current leaders, Rivers United FC, have a crucial and tough away match against the defending champions of the league, Rangers International, a match that could create the much-needed space, the Sky Blue Stars must step up and beat El-Kanemi, who might pose a banana peel challenge.

After their loss to Niger Tornadoes, which saw them drop from their position at the top of the NPFL table, Remo Stars will hope to return to winning ways with a home game against El-Kanemi Warriors.


It has not been a roller-coaster season for coach Daniel Ogunmodede's side, but playing at home in front of their fans will hopefully bring out the best in the players.


Now, Remo Stars is almost decimated as five of their starters and the coach have been called up to the CHAN Eagles camp to face Ghana in the qualifiers. It will be a tough encounter that will test the depth and quality of the team in the absence of their regulars.
