2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 16: Rangers International FC set to unleash Enugu fans on Rivers United

In a top-of-the-table clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, popularly known as “The Cathedral,” for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 16, the management of the defending champions, Rangers International FC, has decided to throw the gates wide open for fans to watch the game against table-toppers Rivers United FC for free.

The management of the Coal City side, led by Amobi Ezeaku, Esq., has graciously made this decision to allow fans and supporters to attend the Match Day 16 fixture of the NPFL 2024/2025 season against Rivers United on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, without any charges.

According to Ezeaku, the gesture is a way to celebrate the festive season with the club’s loyal and ever-present supporters, who have stood by the team through thick and thin.

In a memo from the CEO’s office, Ezeaku described the initiative as an act of appreciation and a celebration of the Yuletide season for the fans and supporters.

“We extend our warm gratitude for your support of Rangers International FC this season.

“Your passion and dedication continue to inspire our players and management,” the statement read in part.

The management further stated: “As a token of our appreciation and in celebration of the Yuletide season, we are pleased to announce free entry for our upcoming match against Rivers United on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.

“This is our way of saying thank you for standing by us.

“We also call on all fans to maintain civility and uphold the sanctity of our beloved Cathedral.

“Let us create an atmosphere of unity, respect, and true sportsmanship as we cheer our team to victory.”

Last season, it was Kazeem Ogunleye’s well-struck free kick on Jan. 24 that settled the encounter. The Fidelis Ilechukwu-led side will now aim to extend its unbeaten run to nine matches and bridge the gap at the top of the league standings.
