Hard-fighting Heartland Football Club mounted a great comeback to secure a 3-2 victory over the visiting Nasarawa United in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Week 15 match played at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, on Sunday.
The Naze Millionaires took the lead early in the match when forward Promise Anyanwu scored in the 15th minute, much to the joy of the home fans who turned out in large numbers to support their team. However, just two minutes into added time, the visitors equalized through Anas Yusuf in the 45+2nd minute, ending the first half 1-1.

Upon resumption, Emmanuel Amuneke-tutored Heartland applied maximum pressure to get more goals, but it was Nasarawa United who went ahead when Abubakar Garba made it 1-2 in the 85th minute.
Facing a second defeat in a week, Heartland shifted gears and launched a full offensive, which paid off in the 88th minute when attacking midfielder Surajdeen Lawal leveled the score with a fine finish.
However, it was Christian Molokwu who ensured that Amuneke’s team, led by the former African Footballer of the Year, grabbed all three points when he scored the winning goal in the 90+2nd minute.
The goal was greeted with wild jubilation around Dan Anyiam Stadium as fans celebrated as if Heartland had won the league title.
With this victory, Heartland is currently in 10th place on the NPFL table, having won five matches, drawn five, and lost five, though the club is on a five-match unbeaten streak.
