Rivers United FC on Sunday edged out Kano Pillars by a lone goal to return to the top of the table in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 15. However, the win came at a cost, says Technical Adviser Finidi George.
Finidi George stated that his players were a bit nervous against Kano Pillars in the game played in Port Harcourt.

The Pride of Rivers, having secured a 1-0 win over the hard-fighting Sai Masu Gida, saw their players nervous rather than pushing for a second goal.
“We are happy with the victory, though it was a difficult game,” said Finidi.
“In the first half, we created one or two chances, but in the second half, the team was a little bit nervous, trying to hold on to the only goal instead of going for a second.”
“At the tail end of the game, we fell back to see how we could preserve the lead,” he added.
The win returned Rivers United to the league summit with 29 points from 15 matches.
