As the bottom team in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Bendel Insurance faces Match Day 13 fixtures on Saturday. One thing is clear: its long-term Technical Adviser, Monday Odigie, will not be in the dugout, as he has reportedly resigned from his position.
Odigie has endured a challenging campaign in the 2024/2025 NPFL season, managing just three wins in 12 matches, with six losses and three draws, leaving the team at the bottom of the table in 20th position out of 20 teams.

This season's performance is a sharp contrast to his record just two seasons ago when the team almost went unbeaten throughout their campaign in 2022, setting a record yet to be broken.
Reports on Thursday revealed that Odigie submitted his resignation letter to the Club Secretary, Mr. Charles Ihimekpen, shortly after the Benin-based club lost 2-3 to Rangers International of Enugu last Sunday.
An anonymous associate disclosed that Odigie had considered resigning after the Match Day 10 encounter against Sunshine Stars of Akure. However, the team's 2-1 victory on the road in that match delayed his decision.
It was further revealed that before officially resigning, Odigie had traveled to Akure and Enugu for matches but returned alone, distancing himself from the team.
Bendel Insurance finds itself at the bottom of the 20-team league following their Week 12 loss to reigning NPFL champions, Enugu Rangers.
With Bendel Insurance set to face Kwara United on Saturday in a Match Day 13 encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin at 4 p.m., the task ahead appears daunting, especially against another team fighting to avoid relegation.
However, the management of the Benin Arsenals has yet to issue a statement regarding Odigie’s resignation.
In the meantime, assistant coach Greg Igbinoba oversaw the team’s Thursday training session at the main bowl of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
