"Following the directive from the NPFL and considering the wellbeing of the players, our Oriental Derby clash with Rangers, initially scheduled for Sunday, November 24, will now hold a day earlier, on Saturday, November 23, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri,” Heartland announced via X.
"We regret any inconveniences caused and appeal to our fans for their unwavering support during the game.”
This derby has consistently been a fiercely contested match and is eagerly anticipated by fans of both clubs.
Heartland coach Fidelis Ilechukwu will return to the dugout after missing two league matches due to his duties as an assistant coach with Nigeria’s Super Eagles. For Rangers coach Emmanuel Amuneke, the game presents an opportunity to continue the team's resurgence following a shaky start to the season.
There is a significant gap between the two sides on the NPFL table. The Flying Antelopes currently sit in 4th place, while the Naze Millionaires occupy the 10th position.
Rangers have accumulated 19 points from 12 matches, with five wins, four draws, and three losses. Meanwhile, Heartland has 16 points from an equal number of games, earning four wins, four draws, and four losses.
