2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 11: Unfazed Ikorodu City FC takes challenge to Katsina

Resurgent Ikorodu City FC, fresh from its record-breaking 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 10 win, which ultimately dethroned league leaders Rivers United FC, will march to Katsina on Match Day 11 to face another formidable opponent, Katsina United FC.


For Ikorodu City FC, the victory over the ambitious Pride of Rivers will serve as a catalyst for further success in upcoming matches.

The team’s coach, Nuruden Aweroro, said in an exclusive interview that the club anticipates more positive results, especially in the challenging encounter against Katsina United.


However, this will be the first-ever meeting between both sides.


Katsina United have won three home games at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, while Ikorodu City has yet to secure an away win since its NPFL debut this season.


In their last five matches, Katsina United remains unbeaten with three wins, averaging 0.4 points per match while conceding 0.6 points to opponents.


The NPFL newcomers Ikorodu City, who ended Rivers United’s unbeaten run, average 2.2 points per match while conceding 1.0 points to opponents. Given what happened to Rivers United last week, Katsina United must be cautious of Ikorodu City.


Aweroro said: "I think we have gained enough morale to face any NPFL team going forward. We are not afraid of any team; the boys are more than ever ready."
