2024/2025 NPFL Match Day 10: Peace Boys concede late goals against Kano Pillars

Posted : 04 November 2024

The last time Mbwas Mangut and Usman Abdallah faced off was in August 2024 during preseason, where the Peace Boys triumphed via penalty shootouts. However, a rekindled rivalry beckoned in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 10 at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

The encounter featured an end-to-end display of intensity, imagination, pressing, interceptions, and excitement, including moments of brilliance from Rabiu Ali, Ahmed Musa, and Adamu Abubakar, along with a dominant midfield performance by the Peace Boys trio of Victor Dawa, Mafeng Pam, and returning Mohammed Umar.

The first half remained cagey but entertaining, with Plateau United's Adamu Abubakar orchestrating a couple of movements on the opposition's end, aided by the supporting influence of full-back Harrison Ebah, whose forward movements created several worrying moments for the opposition.

Ahmed Musa's tricky combinations in the Peace Boys' area produced anxious moments, but the calming influence of Franklin Ebuka Anthony and Olawale Doyeni ensured the interception and neutralization of dangerous offensive plays consistently.

The first half ended goalless.

The second half was defined by three decisive moments.

First, Saka Gafar scored a header in the 66th minute off Vincent Temitope's corner kick to put the Peace Boys ahead, earning the boisterous lad his second goal of the current campaign.

Second, a foul against Ahmed Musa in a vital area of the Peace Boys' box in the 76th minute handed Rabiu Ali a chance to convert the ensuing free kick, leveling the scores at 1-1 as the match entered its closing stages.

Ahmed Musa's goal conversion in the dying moments of the entertaining yet nervy encounter ensured the Peace Boys returned without a point yet again.

Seven home wins, one draw, and two away victories featured prominently in the ten Match Day 10 fixtures across the country.

Up next for the Peace Boys is a tough test against the current NPFL champions, Rangers International of Enugu, on Match Day 11 in Jos.
