Akwa United head coach Muhammed Baba Ganaru expressed his satisfaction with securing a point on the road against Lobi Stars.
Akwa United held their hosts to a goalless draw in their opening game of the 2024/2025 NPFL season at the Lafia City Stadium.
According to Baba Ganaru, "We are grateful to God for the point we earned here in Lafia, but to be honest, we came here with a game plan to secure all three points, just as we did last season, but it wasn’t meant to be.
"In my overall assessment, both teams played very well and created numerous scoring opportunities, but in the end, there were no goals to show for it.
"The positive takeaway from this game is that we played well because if we hadn’t, we wouldn’t have created those chances in the first place.
"I’m not entirely happy because, in the final moments of the game, we had a one-on-one chance that Mare missed, which could have made a difference.
"It is our first match of the season, and the players were somewhat anxious.
"My players need to be more composed in front of goal, and we will continue to work on our finishing abilities and also on improving the players’ confidence levels."
