Docked in Conference B alongside ten other teams, Osun United will hit the road for their season opener against First Bank FC of Lagos, a formidable side returning to the second-tier league after a rigorous season in the Nigeria Nationwide League One. The ever-ready First Bank FC awaits the arrival of the "Imole Gladiators" in what promises to be a crucial encounter.
In a similar setup last season, United claimed maximum points away to Tradesafe FC of Lagos in the opener. However, the roller-coaster season saw the pride of the state narrowly miss out on the NPFL qualifying zone.
While briefing players and officials on the importance of staying focused for the new season, the club chairman, Gbenga Ololade, emphasized that the club is poised for glory as they navigate the route to greater success.
"There’s a need to brace up and do the job without complacency. We need to understand the challenging situations we are in.
"Every ground should be an avenue to express ourselves and pick up points. The government is supporting us, and we need to reciprocate their gestures.
"Outstanding performance, dedication, and hard work should be our watchwords."
Due to ongoing renovations at their home stadium, Osun United will adopt the Lanre Leke Sports Complex in Ileogbo as their temporary home ground.
At the end of last season, the club retained 20 players while recruiting 16 fresh legs for the new campaign.
