Dakkada FC secured a walkover victory against 1472 FC of Lagos in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, in their final match of the first stanza of the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL).
The 2019 NNL champions arrived at the stadium at the stipulated 1:30 PM reporting time, completed their pre-match warm-up and license inspection, and, when the time came, were led onto the turf by match officials and ball boys.
After waiting on the field for about thirty-five minutes with the ball placed at the center spot, referee Kelechi Nnaji of the Enugu Referees Council carried out the walkover formalities and blew his whistle, officially awarding the hosts three points and three goals.
When 1472 FC failed to attend the morning’s technical meeting without prior communication, there was still hope they would arrive before kick-off in the afternoon. Unfortunately, they did not.
As a result, Dakkada now has fourteen points from ten matches, while 1472 FC remains at the bottom of the Conference A standings with four points as the first stanza of the campaign concludes for both teams.
