The management of Nigeria National League (NNL) side Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Football Club of Ilorin has asked its Head Coach, Sani Sardauna, to step aside.
Tosh Michael, the club’s Media Officer, disclosed that Taofeeq Babatunde has been appointed as Interim Head Coach, pending further directives.
The decision was made during the club’s management meeting held on Monday, presided over by the Director of Football, Alloy Chukwuemeka.
Michael stated that, in addition to several key decisions regarding the club’s future, the team would embark on a short mid-season break with immediate effect.
“The break is scheduled to last until March 10,” he added.
Michael also explained that Salaudeen Adeyinka has been appointed as Assistant Coach, while the management has decided to retain only 23 players from the current squad.
“This decision aims to restructure and strengthen the team for the remainder of the season,” he said.
He further stated that the club management has taken a firm stance on players who have absconded without official permission.
“It has been confirmed that none of these players will be allowed to return to the club due to disciplinary reasons.
“The management wishes to assure our loyal fans and supporters that these decisions have been made in the club’s best interest.
“We are committed to rebuilding and strengthening our team to achieve greater success in the future,” the spokesman said.
