A new management team for Delta State's flagship clubs, Warri Wolves Football Club and Delta Queens Football Club of Asaba, is expected to be constituted and unveiled before the end of the month.
The Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Festus Ohwojero, made the revelation in Asaba.
Ohwojero stated that the new management would consist of individuals with proven track records in the Nigerian football industry, as they are expected to elevate the clubs to higher levels.
According to him, Warri Wolves has not played in the Nigeria Professional Football League for over six years, and it is the desire of every football lover in the state to see their team return to the elite division where they truly belong.
He mentioned that the new management of the club will therefore be tasked with returning the team to the NPFL, as they have been languishing in the Nigeria National League (NNL) for over six years.
The Director General of the State Sports Commission asserted that Delta Queens, who won the Nigeria Women Football League last year after an 11-year wait, will also receive a new management team with the mandate to secure a Super 6 slot at the end of the forthcoming season in a bid to contend for the league title.
He emphasized that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is keen on restoring Warri Wolves and Delta Queens Football Clubs to their glory days when they were the toast of Nigerian football.
