Solution FC of Awka thrashed their opponents, Madiba FC, 4-1 in the Nigeria Nationwide League Match Round 8, which took place at the Awka Township Stadium on Saturday.
The Solution boys initiated the goal-scoring spree through Valentine Ugwu, who found the back of the net in the third minute.
However, Anthony Ndubuisi responded for the Madiba boys in the 10th minute.
Charles Egbe scored again in the 37th minute to put Solution FC in the lead by 2-1 before the break.
Godwin Okoyeatu and Tochukwu Ozuruonye scored twice for the home team in the 49th and 85th minutes, respectively, to complete the rout of the Lagos-based Madiba FC by 4-1.
The Solution boys have maintained an unbeaten run since January, with four wins and a draw.
Speaking after the game, Emmanuel Deutcsh, coach of Solution FC, commended the team for their tactical discipline.
Deutcsh said: “We are still building a team; some of them are fresh players, but they have discipline. If you don’t have discipline, then you do not have a team.”
On his part, Solomon Bala, coach of Madiba FC, said the Solution boys played well and deserved their win. Bala said his team would not be deterred by the outcome of the match but would rather work on observed lapses.
He, however, expressed concerns about the quality of officiating and called on the management of the league to take a greater interest in managing referees in games.
