2024/2025 NNL Match Day 8: ABS FC of Ilorin back to winning ways

Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin Football Club returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Solution FC in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Match Day 8 fixture, played on Sunday afternoon at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin, Kwara State.  


After four consecutive defeats, which saw the team drop into the relegation zone with six points from seven matches, ABS entered the game seeking redemption. Their persistence paid off when Abdulwahab Olaniyi scored the winning goal just two minutes into the second half, catching the Solution FC goalkeeper off guard.  


Despite the visitors' efforts to equalize, ABS held firm to secure their first win in four games.  


Coach Sani Ahmed Sarduana expressed his delight with the victory, stating, "It's a massive win that brings relief after four consecutive losses. Beating such a tough opponent shows our team's character. Although we still have areas to improve, I'm very happy."  


He attributed the win to the team's newfound unity and defensive discipline. "We've decided to play as a unit, identifying our weaknesses and working to prevent conceding goals."  


ABS Ilorin FC will now travel to Lagos to face First Bank FC.
